The African University College of
Communications (AUCC) and the World Bank have jointly set up a Development
Information Centre at AUCC to encourage knowledge sharing and policy
dialogue among stakeholders.
Presenting three desktop computers
to AUCC last week, to signify the conclusion of the Agreement, Mr. Kafui
Kofi Tsikata, Senior Communication Specialist of the World Bank office
in Accra, said that the Centre will offer to stakeholders free access
to on-line databases, relevant information on development, free access
to development experts, and to events such as roundtables, seminars,
film screenings and policy dialogue sessions.
Receiving the computers for the
Centre, Mr. Kojo Yankah, President of AUCC thanked the Bank and emphasized
that AUCC’s vision to become Africa’s best centre for journalism
and communication education, providing opportunities for practical and
professional application to development issues in Africa still remained
on course. “Information and knowledge sharing is key to our mission,”
he stressed.
The World Bank will further provide
a multi-media corner facility equipped with a Large Screen, DVD/Cassette
Player, and Speakers to the AUCC Information Centre.
