University and Department Regulations
- Each department is required
to provide detailed information about the structure of courses leading
to the award of bachelor’s degrees.
- Each student registered at the
University is required to be thoroughly familiar with rules and policies
of the university and the specific requirements of the bachelor’s
degree he/she plans to pursue.
- Each student is responsible
for ensuring that the courses in which registration is made satisfy
the programme requirements of the bachelor’s degree sought.
- Each student will be assigned
an academic advisor in their department, who will help the student
chart their academic progress. It is the responsibility of each student
to make periodic appointments with their advisor to discuss their
progress.
- It is understood that every
student, by the act of registration, agrees to abide by all the rules,
regulations and policies of the University and of their specific departments.
Departments
in which a student is registered
- Each student is expected to be
familiar with the general information outlined in this Handbook as
well as information pertaining to the Department in which he/she is
enrolled. Students shall therefore be held liable for any lapses.
When in doubt, students may make appointments and consult their Academic
Advisor, Head of Department, Director of Student Affairs or the Registrar
for advice.
- Exemption from any of these
general regulations may be granted only by express permission of the
Academic Board and on the recommendation of a Head of Department.
- The university reserves the
right to change rules, regulations and policies, as well as programmes
and course requirements given in this handbook without prior notice.
Registration,
Re-registration and Interruption
- Students are required
to register for courses every semester.
- A student who
is not able to complete the degree programme within the specified programme
duration may be allowed to re-register for an additional two years.
- Students who wish
to interrupt their academic programme must write to inform the University
for approval.
Course
Credit
One (1) course credit is defined as:
- One-hour lecture
- One-hour tutorial
- One-hour practical instruction
Workload
- A fulltime student shall be required
to carry a minimum workload of 12 credits (four courses) per semester.
- Under special circumstances, a
student may, with the approval of the Registrar, be allowed to carry
less than the full workload.
