The Counselling Unit


The counselling unit is under the Office of student Affairs in the African University College of Communications, Adabraka. It is headed by a clinical psychologist. It is responsible for providing psychological assessment, therapy and counselling for students and staff of the University. Generally, students are seen for various academic, behavioural, emotional and social adjustment challenges.

Counselling is done in a confidential and professional manner. In addition, the office organises workshops for students to educate students on various psychological issues such as stress and managing it, depression and importance of developing healthy attitude to life.


Ms. Stella Nartey is a clinical psychologist and the school counsellor at African University College of Communications.

She has worked in various areas including an NGO with children in sheltered home, in a hospital with persons with diverse medical and psychological issues and also with students who have challenges in their education. Her interest is in understanding socio-cultural correlates of disabilities.

It is her aim to help persons, especially children and students become the best they can be.
