You are entering AUCC at a very exciting time for the university college. This is the period when our vision of becoming the best centre for creative teaching is being sharpened. We have developed a medium-term strategic plan which would usher us to the next level of our growth - to position AUCC to focus on its mission, elevate its status, and become the centre of reference and excellence in the major fields of journalism and communication studies, business and cutting-edge information technology.
This has been made possible by our hard-working teaching and non-teaching staff, our highly motivated students led by the Students Representative Council, and our proud ambassadors, the confident alumni. Visit all the major media houses, the public relations and advertising outfits, and research institutions, and you will be met with pricy testimonials about past students of AUCC, some of whom have already won major awards, others of who are furthering their studies.
Yet, we believe there is a lot more to be done, and this is captured in our 2011-2014 Strategic Plan which will be made available to you. I am happy to welcome you to be part of the rolling out of our Plan.
Our Core Values are
(a) The Pursuit of Excellence;
(b) Critical and Independent Thinking;
(c) Creativity and Innovation;
(d) Respect for African cultural Values; and
(e) Service to the Community.
Our symbol is the Baobab Tree which is the source of our Energy, Vitality, Confidence and Strength; and our Orange colour signifies Achievement (Harvest) while our Black is the soul of our Africanness.
In November 2011, AUCC will graduate its first batch of B.A degree products, and our 10TH Anniversary will be celebrated in October 2012. You will participate in these events and many more, which will stir you more to want to ‘DISCOVER YOURSELF FROM HERE’.
At AUCC, you have rare opportunities to investigate and search yourself and define a rewarding path for your personal, professional and social growth in a pan=African community.
