The management, faculty, staff and students of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) have urged
Ghanaian youth to aspire for educational excellence after expressing their profound sadness at the sudden passing away of the former president of the republic of Ghana, His Excellency Professor, John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
In an interview with the acting president of AUCC, Mr. Bernard Otabil, he said, “We at AUCC, are deeply shocked and distressed at the death of such a great and humble leader.
Mr. Otabil further stated “Prof. Mills will be remembered by all for his peaceful nature and his humility but we at AUCC are particularly inspired by his love for education and his pursuit of academic excellence which constitutes an integral part of AUCC’s core values.”
The management of AUCC is therefore encouraging all the youth of Ghana to pursue educational excellence in lasting memory of Prof. Mills. Indeed the late President may actually smile in his grave if a lot more Ghanaian youth are inspired to emulate his sterling example.
Professor Mills truly lived out the words in the Ghanaian pledge which states “…I pledge myself to the service of Ghana with all my strength and with all my heart” as all of Ghana, Africa and the World saw him literally sacrifice his life to the service of Ghana.
The entire AUCC community uses this opportunity to wish His Excellency John Dramani Mahama good luck in taking over the mantle of leadership to steer the affairs of this great nation of Ghana.
